Biscayne 18 Classic Runabout is a replication of a wooden boat of yesteryear that captures the look and feel of a production runabout built either side of 1940.
Incorporating a similar hull shape to boat of that era with reverse-curved flaring topsides at the bow blends gracefully aft to a generous tumblehome at the transom.
A soft rolled edge gunnel is a prime feature giving this boat elegance. Couple this with the authentic plumb stem and careful cockpit/deck detailing and you have a boat with true classic authenticity
A Ken Hankinson design professionally built in New Zealand.
You would swear the Biscayne 18 was an authentic classic boat, restored at great expense. Instead, it is a new boat that is better in every way than any original and at a cost a fraction of a restored original.
Installed Stewart Warner gauges are exact replicas of the originals. Rev counter, water temperature, volt meter, oil pressure and petrol gauge.
The hull is constructed of 3 layers of marine ply laid on in a diagonal fashion and one layer of 3mm solid African Sapele Mahogany. Fully glassed over for extra strength and durability and then 10 layers of Akzo Nobel Clear Varnish.
Powered with a 4.3L Volvo Penta 225HP 6 cylinder with 1 to 1.1 ratio Velvet Drive Gearbox.
Humphrey Bogart or Clark Gable Ingrid Bergman or Kathryn Hepburn could have cruised the Bay of Biscayne off the coast of Miami in a boat just like this.
You could be next to cruise the Bay of Islands, Hauraki Gulf, Marlborough Sounds or Lakes Wanaka, Queenstown, Rotorua or Taupo.
